IMGBurn v.2.2.0.0 list of additions includes:Added: 'Read' mode for basic (sector by sector) creation of images direct from a cd/dvd.Although I think I know the answer, I'll ask, just to be certain - Does this function work with copy-protected DVDs?

If not, how does this differ from reading/writing in .ISO mode?

No it doesn't

From ISO mode in DVD Dec you mean?

It doesn't.

They're both 1:1 but DVD Dec's supported on-the-fly decryption of DVDs and ImgBurn's doesn't.

ImgBurn's works on CD's though and DVD Dec's did not.

Thanks for the insight!

Based on your explanation, this new addition appears to be only one step removed from doing what I asked about here ;>}:

No, it's totally different - at least as I understood it.

That other post was about you having an ISO file and wanting to browse it in a similar fashion to that seen in IsoBuster (or WinRar, only to a lesser degree).

My other post asked about the possibility of extracting a DVD "package" of files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) from an .ISO image file.

So, if IMGBurn can now read from a DVD and replicate its directory and file structure, wouldn't that be "one step away" from being able to do the same thing with an .ISO image file as the source material?

No, it's about 3 million miles away.
