If so, any suggestions?

TIA.

Well, if you can afford a really good one - yes. We have an Apple 24" Cinema HD display in one of our edit bays at work, and it's quite nice... full 1920x1200 resolution, so you can view HD 1:1 on it with no scaling.

I am a staunch lover of CRTs, but I will admit that new, high quality LCDs can really deliver a stunning image... And all the other advantages in the power, size, weight department.

For editing 60 or 30 fps stuff these displays may be suited, but not for the rest of the worlds 50 / 25 fps video.

This is due to the refresh rate limitation of nearly all LCD monitors. They are limited to 60 Hertz. So playing back 50, 25, or 24 fps video will result in uneven (jerky) motion.

That's a really good point. I'm surprised that LCDs which are designed to operate using a non 60hz AC power system would still refresh at 60hz natively.

To some people I'm sure this isn't an issue, but I don't like the idea of watching 24p on a 60hz display.

Can software like ReClock help a situation like this?

This is no arguement, cause the 60Hz AC power becomes DC within the switching supply. There is no connection between refreshrate and power frequency anymore since about 60 years or so...

Can software like ReClock help a situation like this? You could abuse it to speed up everything to 30 or 60 fps.

But I doubt you'd like a 24fps movie sped up to 30fps.
