I've bought a Dell Inspiron 640m in the UK, and I'm going to the US next week. Is there a way to reset the region counter, so I can watch R1 and R2 DVDs while I am there?

What's the DVD drive listed, exact name and number? You can find this in Device Manager.

EDIT: The other, more convenient option is DVD Region+CSS Free: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm. This is software based, and is useful if what you're after is a temporary solution.
