Hi, PROs
In putting a picture in a webpage on vB, we use these tags:
How do we put a picture to appear by the side of another picture?
If I put:
they still appear one below the other.

If they are small, it works:

I'm sure the purpose is to prevent side-to-side scrolling of the forum page.
Edit: Hmm, it worked in preview, but the addition of the user info pane returned them to stacked unless I switch to 1024 x 768.

Thanks. To summarize what you've written:
vB codes will work with these conditions:
1. Site policy of preventing horizontal scrolling, if any
2. Image sizes (especially width)
3. Viewer's monitor-size
4. Viewer's monitor screen resolution
With the two tags kept side-by-side one can upload 2 images of, say, 320x240 dimension and view them side-by-side in a 17-inch monitor with 1024x768 screen resolution.
Are these pretty much it?
Regards.

Using the [ code ] tags might work too... let's try this.

It works, but not quite as I expected it to. ;)

Also some boards support [left] or that can force it, but it's a custom function, and Doom9 doesn't have anything like it.

1. Site policy of preventing horizontal scrolling, if any
I don't think there's a policy, per, se, but if you want your posts read, don't make it scroll.
2. Image sizes (especially width)
It's width alone that affects whether or not they're side-by-side, just like text. I placed a space between the two image links, and it added a space between the images. Without it, they'd be touching.
3. Viewer's monitor-size
The monitor itself is irrelevant, since the resolution is set by the computer.
