View Full Version : Joining VOBs of different Titles...audio delay???

I'm banging my head over this probem for over a week now.....

i want to join the VOBs of different titles into one single stream..
the first Title VTS_01 has an audio delay of -300ms(DVD2AVI)
while the second title VTS_02 has no audio delay.

i have joined the two different titles into one single VTS_01 using VobEdit and IfoEdit.

then i demuxed the resulting one VOB file into .m2v and .dts using DVDDecrypter. DVDdecrypter gave me the audio delay of the stream as -300ms.

then i reencoded the dts to ac3 using tranzcode and besweet. (as my DVD player dosen't support DTS)

now, i reauthored the DVD using DVDLab. The m2v had open GOPs..so i rewrote the GOP timecode using DVDlab. I put audio delay of -300ms in DVDLab.
Then i compiled the DVD.

But when i play the DVD using WinDVD, the (original) first title plays fine, but the (original) second title plays audio ahead of video.

when i play the VOB that was given to me by IfoEdit, it dosen't have such a problem...

someone please help me with this problem......

My first thought is for you to first remux all files separately with the different audio delays, them demux them again (this time they will all have zero audio delays) and then remux them together once the audio delay is zero for all files.

Hi!then i reencoded the dts to ac3 using tranzcode and besweet. (as my DVD player dosen't support DTS)Perhaps your problem is arising as the result of this conversion.

Why don't you just use the .AC3 audiostream from the original DVD(s)? (All commercial DVDs that have DTS audiostreams also have either an .AC3 or LPCM audiostream)

Hi! thanks for your patience...

tried the same thing again...this time as you suggested with the original AC3 stream... but i'm getting the same result .... still the first part plays fine but not the second one...
(btw, just wanted to play around with DTS as this is the first one i've had that has DTS).

thanks !

Just to make sure you understand what I mean:

When you join the files using VobEdit, only use files that have 0ms audio delay. So the question is how do you get the files to have no audio delay?

If you demux them separately and re-mux them with Muxman taking the different audio delays into account, Muxman will output files with no audio delay whether it has to pad or cut the beginning of the audio stream to do it. So hopefully you can join them without any sync problem.

Ah! finally it's done... :D
Thanks a lot for your idea Stephen..!! :thanks:

Here's how i did it...with ur help!

1)I demuxed the two titles separately.
2)Reauthored the DVD this time putting the audio delay only for the first title.
3)Joined the two titles using Ifoedit and Vobedit.
4)Again demuxed the joined titles.
5)Reauthored them again ... this time only a single title with no audio delay.!

It was done then.. the entire(joined)Title played fine.. with no a/v sync problems.. !!

Thanks a lot for helping me out! ;)
