hey ppl I've got a question for you, obviously. When I do an VCD using the guides does that make me end up with a non-compliant VCD when trying to burn in Nero. cuz when i do that exactly, but change everything to VCD instead of SVCD Nero tells me that it's not compliant and therefore will not play in a dvd player. so i was wondering if you could tell me what definitely has to be changed inorder for me to complete this process and make VCD encoding worth while. Thanx.

What error message are you getting in Nero?

Sometimes i get the one about VCD not supporting 23.9.. but i burn anyway and it works, because some film is actually shot at 23.9...
so it is VCD compliant even if Nero says it isn't.

Why not try a test burn onto a CDRW and see if it works in your standalone DVD player?

Cheers

when I do this in nero it comes up with an error message or whatever it is and lists off what the movie is made up of, ie. 44100 hz, mpeg 1, come to think of it would resolution do anything to the end result of trying to burn it?? but anyways it goes through that list of what the movie is made up of and then it tells me that it's not compliant and asks to ignore it etc and I do but it still doesn't work on a standalone dvd player? any suggestions

You might need to actually convert it to Video-CD mpg, you might have it as system mpg. Just use tmpgenc, go to file - mpeg tools, then on the first tab open your movie, then select video-cd. then run.

do I do that after I've done the whole process of VCD/SVCD encoding or do I skip the whole step with TMPG and just use that cuz won't it be doing the same thing or do I do that step you told me to do after I've completely followed the guide?? I just load my video but not the audio and video parts of it just the whole movie itself right??

Thanx

Once you have the completed mpg file do it (both audio and video combined).

If your using tmpgenc to encode you should be able to make it 'nero compliant'. Make sure that you are encoding it as video-cd mpg not system. I was getting these problems, so i just started to use the pre-made templates for tmpgenc, they seem to work fine and i had no problems.
