I have Pioneer DV-535 and in FAQ I read that it supports SVCD.
I try to make some test with Jurrasic Park II and make SVCD CD-R with 2 subtitles. I'd like to have possibilities to change subtitles.
I guess that permanent subtitles are encoded with the movie. I was able to do it. But my goal was to obtain a SVCD with 2 subtitles which I can change. How does it work? Is it possible with my DVD player? I'm asking cause I've tried to make SVCD with SVCD subtitles (2) and it doesn't work (use CVD instead?). I made it of only 2 chapters beacuse I didn't want to wait to encode the whole movie. Is it a reason that my subtitles dont work? Is there any PAL example to test ma DVD player?
BTW. How to change subtitles I mean what kind of shortkey?

BTW Sorry for my english...I'd like to make 2 version subtitles movies to improve it :-)

Until DVD2SVCD fixes the selectable subs problems, you will have to use I-Author to create the subs. You have to edit the 1.05 dvd2svcd configeration file to turn on I-Author. Under Subtitle tab, you can select language 1 as your first subtitle and language 2 as your second subtitle. When you are watching the movie, you can use the remote control to switch between the two subtitles.

Hope this helps.

I have a pioneer and CVD (I-author) subs never worked for me. I'll try again the SVCD subs one last time when 1.0.5 build 4 or whatever the new version is called.

Tell me weather you succeeded or not.

BTW. What Pioneer do you have?

nope...tried 1.0.5 build 4 SVCD subtitles and it's a no go. My guess is on all pioneers SVCD nor CVD subtitles work. Unless the newer ones do. I have pioneer 434.

I wonder (just theoretic) why some players can ply subtitles but the others can't? Is it matter of firmware?

All streams in a mpeg2 file (video, audio, subs still pictures and so on) must be decoded before they can be viewed and lots of decoder chips doesn't support all the different decoders needed for that, and especially Subtitles is a neglected area.
