Hey..
Does anyone know of a player that could load a .m2v, .ac3, and the "official subtitle format" (which is ??) and play all this together ???
Without loosing sync ??
Can mplayer do this ????
Thank you !!
(don't much about linux)

I don't think even MPlayer can be configured to do that without sync problems and I doubt that there are any other players on Linux that could. Can't you just mux the streams together into MPEG-PS and play that with any player you like?

Maybe ask RVM the coder of SMPlayer (http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/) in his forum (http://www.phpbbplanet.com/smplayer/index.php?mforum=smplayer). He might add this feature to his MPlayer GUI.

Well, there is one capable player, kind of, in Windows !!
(see my post in the software players forum)
Media Player Classic (don't think it has a linux version !)
So if it's possible in MS sh...
I has to be possible in linux, if someone who knows how to do it, would just try to do it... Not me unfortunately..
What does a gui for mplayer has to do with it ???
THanks for the reply !

Isn't a m2v just a mpeg without sound?
I think mplayer can play it.
The option -audiofile can be used to play an external audio file.

But probably not in sync. If you seek in the video, audio might start from the beginning (at least it did for the MP2 audio stream that I tried). The sync could also drift for other reasons even without seeking.
Edit: Just tried with an external AC3 stream and that seems to work much better. So that's definitely worth trying. If your subtitles are in VobSub format, use parameters -vobsub <file without extension> and -vobsubid <0-31>. If they are SPU streams, you may need to do some conversions with external tools. Text-based subtitle formats (.sub, .srt, ...) can be loaded with the -sub parameter.

mplayer also has the option −hr-mp3-seek which can be useful when the audio file is a mp3:
Hi-res MP3 seeking. Enabled when playing from an external MP3 file, as we need to seek to the very exact position to keep A/V sync. Can be slow especially when seeking backwards since it has to rewind to the beginning to find an exact frame position.
