Very sorry if this has been mentioned before.
I'm trying to backup a full dvd using the DIF4U, CCE, ReAuthorist, ImgTool, IfoUpdate, Sonic Scenarist from the guide on this website.
My problem is when I get to ReAuthorist, I cannot view the PGC's in the preview window.
I get the following message in red writing:
"CAVIStreamSynth: System exception - Access Violation at 0x0, reading from 0x0"
I have tried reinstalling all the programs, I also have tried multiple versions of AviSynth without success.
Any help appreciated.

hi justin9. and welcome to the forum!
it is generally considered good netiquette (and in keeping with forum rules) to not post the same question in more than one forum.
i have taken the liberty of deleting your other thread in the newbie forum.
now onto your question ...
to be perfectly honest, it has been such a long timem since i have used reauthorist (or that anyone has submitted any bug reports) that i cannot say why you are getting that error.
what i can do is suggest that you try scenaid instead of reauthorist. apart from being able to handle more complex titles, scenaid has the added advantage over RA in that it is still developed by D3s7.
see this thread for details:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=97259
and the completely revamped guide:

I thank you very much for your reply Jel.
I took your advice and have followed through the guide.
I've hit numerous stumbling blocks, which until now have been solved from forum searching.
My problem is in ScenAid. I first had this error:
Procedure Name: ProcessAC3File
Module Name: AudioProcess
Error Number: 53
Error Description: File not found
Error Source: ScenAid
Error Line: 21
Call Stack:
Which was fixed with the full install of Scenaid 1.7.0 and 1.7.0.7
but now ScenAid finishes the scan but has red writing down the bottom stating:
Could not generate file: C:....... dummy\dummy-VTS2_P2 80.AC3. Script will have
this is from the log:
- CmdLine: "C:\Program Files\ScenAid\delaycut.exe" -startsplit 00.00 -endsplit 00.01 -out "C:\Documents and Settings\ohp dif4u\ScenAid\Dummy\dummy-VTS2_P2_80.AC3" "C:\Documents and Settings\ohp dif4u\VTS02\VTS__02_P01-80-448K-[-104]ms(fixed)-ch6English.AC3"

sorry mate missed your reply ...
to be honest the only thing that is making me think at the moment is your path to your demux directory.
it is generally good practice to avoid spaces in folder names.
could you try the whole process from scratch (yes a pain a know) and set your demux directory to something more like:
"C:\ohp_dif4u"
and see if that fixes things.
if that doesnt help, can you please attach your dif4u log and the scenaid log and provide additional details on the disc you are trying to back-up
cheers

Thanks for your help, I think i'm nearly there!
Just (hopefully) one last question.
In Scenarist after it finishes processing I get the following in the information box:
"Warning No MPEG decoder is present or the driver is not installed.
Warning Hardware decoding of video will not work."
There is probably a very simple answer to this.

its a non-issue as far as you are concerned. you can safely ignore this warning.
run a forum search on "Warning MPEG decoder present" if you want some further reading

Sorry, got another problem.
When I get up to using BatchUpdateIfo,
The following is in the log box:
DVDVIDEO-VMG Header found (VMG IFO)
Invalid directory
It seems the pathname for the original IFO is fine,
but for the authored IFO pathname there is no file.
In my DIF4U directory, I have a folder titled 0, with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, but both are empty.
Any help appreciated.

no worries mate, sounds like a mux error with scenarist.
can you take a look in the 'scenaid' sub folder, and check out the logs - from memory there should be one called 'scenarist_error_log.txt' or something like that, and post the contents here.
cheers

Thanks for the quick reply.
In the Scenaid folder there doesn't appear to be any error log.
These are the files:
ScenAid30.SCP, ScenAid.log, ScenAid-UserDeselect.txt, ScenAid30_ImportLog.txt, ScenAid-ccedata.txt
jel

please attach your:
ScenAid.log
ScenAid30_ImportLog.txt
thanks.

Here we go.

to be honest, i cant see anything out of the ordinary there.
can you open the .scn file in the scenaid folder in scenarist (the scenario should be avaliable if you open scenarist from the project manager window), and manually go the 'layout editor tab' (top left of screen)
select 'create dvd video' in step 3, and hit the 'start' button. then watch the build window to see if scenarist errors while rebuilding the dvd.
cheers

Hi Jel,
I tried what you said, After clciking on the .scn file it takes about 5 min to load up for some reason. Then when I tried starting step 3, I got the following message:
"Error: Access violation at 0x0066442F (tried to read from 0xFFFFFFF), program terminated."
This is very frustrating. :(

hey justin9,
yup, it can be a frustrating exercise when things dont go right on your first attempt.
personally i think your final issue is due to the scenarist version you are using. the access violation you reported is common with scenarist 3.0.1 so don't use it - roll back to either 2.7 or 3.0.

sorry mate, as per forum rule 6) we cannot discuss wares/illegal content etc.
one option for you is to donate to get vip access to scenaid, and also donate to get the vip version of muxman.
this way you can remove the need for scenarist altogether.

Hi, yep sorry me again,
I downloaded the Muxman Version 0.15Q and was just wondering how the steps would change in the backup guide.
Thanks.
no worries mate,
you will have to contact D3s7 to get a VIP version of scenaid, which can author using muxman.
try a PM first, or he may notice this thread.
then you simply have to set the authoring options to use muxman instead of scenarist in scenaid, and your set.
good luck

Thanks Jel,
I would like the scenaid vip version if thats whats needed to get this done.
How much does it cost?
influenza

for 15$ IIRC you'll get the vip status. You better send d3s7 a PM with your detaild and he can tell you exactly.
