Hi

I back up Ant Bully, when I played it on my Toshiba DVD player, it would play okay in the beginning and after a few chapters, it then freezes and not play forward anymore. This is happening on the same scenes. Since I have an extra DVD player, Sony brand, I decided to try it on this player and the movie played okay. The scenes that were freezing did not freeze on the Sony DVD player. What is the cause of the freezing up ? I am using SONY brand DVD + R media. The other ones I backed up using the same media played okay on the Toshiba player. I am confused, please help ?

Always burn at half the rated speed of the drive or media, whichever is slower. This results in maximum compatibility as well as longer life of the burned media.

Thanks for the reply,
But why would it play on the Sony player and not freeze but would freeze on the Toshiba player ? My DVD writer can write up to 16X, so I normally adjust it to write at 8X.

Hi!But why would it play on the Sony player and not freeze but would freeze on the Toshiba player?Because, as we've all discovered since the inception of standalone DVD players, there are MANY instances of inconsistencies between different brands of players - sometimes even between different models of the same brand.

I'm surprised to here that a SONY player (SONY is amongst the most "finicky" of all brands!) played back your burned media better than your Toshiba (although Toshiba's have always had a reputation of not "liking" burned media).

You might want to try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your Toshiba. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US...
