Question regarding PTS/DTS underflows/overflows

I've been converting MPEG-4 movies to XVCD MPEG-1 using a variety of programs, from LSX MPEG Encoder to TMPGEnc. When I try to mux the .m1v and .mp2 files in bbMPEG, I get a message reading:

"NOTE: Mux rate may be too low for data rate, watch for PTS/DTS underflows."

and then alot of this things:

video PTS (1544.00ms) underflow at pack 94 by 109.33ms
video PTS (1584.00ms) underflow at pack 99 by 136.00ms
video DTS (1624.00ms) underflow at pack 103 by 149.33ms
video PTS (1664.00ms) underflow at pack 108 by 176.00ms
video PTS (1704.00ms) underflow at pack 112 by 189.33ms
video DTS (1744.00ms) underflow at pack 117 by 216.00ms
video PTS (1784.00ms) underflow at pack 121 by 229.33ms
video PTS (1824.00ms) underflow at pack 126 by 256.00ms
video DTS (1864.00ms) underflow at pack 131 by 282.67ms
video PTS (1904.00ms) underflow at pack 136 by 309.33ms

and so on.

When I mux with TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools I get an message saying like "4s buffer underflows - file might not playback correctly".

The files produced playback excelent on the computer, but when they're burned to VCD and played on my stand-alone, the playback is sometimes choppy. That MIGHT have to do with that I used too high bitrate though, not sure it's because of this mux thing.

I've tried changing the "VBV Buffer size" in TMPGEnc, but the underflows keep coming.

What do I do wrong? Any suggestions?

Lowering your bitrate is the best solution I think. My intial SVCDs had the problem, but lowering my bitrates sorted it out.

But the whole idea of an XVCD is higher bitrate/resolution. =(

Try muxing with bbMPEG and increase the mux buffer size.
It worked for me.

I just use the MPEG-1 VideoCD (non standard) option and I sometimes get flow problems and sometimes not.

When I play them on computer or standalone DVD player, I don't get any errors, so I ignore it.
