I would like to build a powerful dedicated video workstation without the overhead of a full feature OS like XP or even Vista.
I was wondering if Core (2) Duo processors are supported by Windows 2000 (W2K) in SMP mode. I believe W2K didn't support the Hyperthreading feature of recent P4's but SMP was already around before W2K on dual socket motherboards.
Many modern programs demand XP support, but most can be made to install on W2K using a little tweaking. I am only interested in Canopus Edius 4 and Premiere Pro v1.5 because I have an Edius DVX card.
Any tips, tweaks or hacks to make unwilling programs install and then run on W2K?
Thanks.
