Does anyone here have any experience with Kodak's Gold DVDs and CD-Rs? I know they are suppose to be the best media for preservation; however, I was wondering if they are worth the price and if the have any playback compability issues.

I came across this a couple months ago on Slashdot...very informative. How to choose media. (http://adterrasperaspera.com/blog/2006/10/30/how-to-choose-cddvd-archival-media/)

Regardless of the construction of the reflective layer (which is the only real difference of the hyper-expensive Gold disks), the main degradation issue of current DVD's is the dye. They all use organic dyes, so they will all fade over time, it's just a matter of how long.
