I hate to resurrect such an old topic; however, I am suffering from a compatibility issue between my DVD burners and my DVD video player. I understand compatibility issues between DVD video players and DVD burners in regards to DVD media (DL or single). I recently purchased Superman Returns and I decided to make a backup of it. I like to make backups of my movies to remove unwanted material and user prohibited options. All of my backed up DVDs play fine in my DVD burners (Plextor PX-716UF & Samsung SH-S183L); however, they rarely play on my DVD video players.

I have two DVD video players. A Panasonic DVD-A110 and a LG SuperMulti. The LG says it supports DVD+-DL discs and it can also burn them; nevertheless, it randomly reads DL discs (I haven't tried burning with it yet). My question is has anyone found a DVD video player that supports dual layer DVDs?

My question is has anyone found a DVD video player that supports dual layer DVDs?Among other of my standalone DVD players, my SONY, Philips, and (ancient/cheap) GE have no problems playing back my burned Verbatim D/L DVD+R media. They also play properly on several of my DVD ROMs and burners on several different systems...

My Pioneer 108 burner automatically performs bitsetting on D/L +R media...
