View Full Version : Splitting a dvd in several files?

I have obtained a few dvds with musicvideos, and as I don't want to play each dvd from beginning to end as they are not all any good, I want to transfer them to my hd and split them into a file for each musicvideo. Fortunately there is bookmarks or index or what it is called, so I just need a tool that can create individual files.
Any ideas? And yes, I'm pretty noob with dvds and this kind of stuff :p
Edit: Oh, and I don't need to do anything about the video or audio, as I prefer it in DVD quality.

Use dvdfabdecrypter to decrypt, dvdshrink to seperate the music videos into seperate files and use nero vision to remake the dvd , nero to burn it.Go to the3 guide section of doom9 for instructions on how to use dvdshrink, the download section to get dvdshrink and dvdfabdecrypter.

You can also rip the disks with DVD Decrypter in .IFO mode and use the chapter ripping option to separate the various videos, but to burn it to disk you'll need a software that can import .VOB or MPEG-2 files.

Thx, but what is the easiest for a noob like me? The files will stay on my hd, as the point is to have them, as you would tracks from a cd, and use it with my media libarary...

You'd have to try the various suggestions and decide for yourself. You might also re-read the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm), particularly 12 (asking a "what's easiest" question is one that cannot be answered objectively).

Thx. But I'm not asking for an objective view on this, just your subjective assesment.
I'll try the decrypter first, as it sounds easy and I already have used it a bit to transfer dvds to my server hd.

It seems to work perfectly, using DVD Decrypter. I'm using the dscaler5 dvd codecs so only thing is I have to rename the vob files to mpg for them to play in WPM11.
Thanks a lot guys.
