Hi Folks,

I am new to these whole encoding techniques and need some help here from the EXPERTS.

I want to convert a low quality wmv file to a DVD quality WMV or AVI file.
My input WMV file have the following statistics:

Dimensions - 320 x 240
Maximum Bit Rate - 300 Kbps
Frame Rate - 30fps
Actual Rate - 29.7 - 29.8 fps

However I was able to convert the WMV to AVI using Divx Pro or ImTOO MPEGEncoder, but the output was almost the same as the the input with lots of NOISE & GRAINS.

I want to know if there is any way to encode this
WMV -> AVI to a DVD quality or better (1280 x 720) AVI file.

I saw some script abt removing noise and grains in the Avisynth section but don't know where to start and how...

Can anyone help me..
Many many thanks in advance.

welcome to Doom9 prosper_me.

as you know, you cannot create gold out of lead or build a house with only two bricks.
you also cannot create a DVD video quality video out of a very low quality source, it's just not possible.

Thanks Digga for your prompt reply.

Well is there atleast some way to remove the noise and grains from the AVI after i convert the original WMV to AVI.
Can someone help me know if there is any script or tool i can use here to remove the noise and grains and make the AVI smooth & crystal clear.

Thanks in Advance

I guess there might be some filters to make the output more acceptable but it will not look great at all. terms like crystal clear are certainly not in place ;)
however I don't use or know much about filters so I can't help you with that.

why do you want to reencode the video anyway?
