Ok, reading that just gave me a headache. Use punctuations next time. What did you use to convert your video files to DVD playable format? Also, what does the directory structure of the burned DVD look like?

Open the burned DVD through My Computer and tell me what the contents/files inside the DVD are.

Well, if there are no files on your DVD, then your DVD player won't have anything to play. Have you tried playing the burned DVD on your PC?

You should see a bunch of .VOB, IFO and .BUP files in the VIDEO_TS directory. The Audio_TS folder is for DVD-Audio DVDs and is empty for regular MOVIE DVDs. The VIDEO_TS folder is where your home player will look for DVD files. The files are usually named VIDEO_TS and VTS1_1.VOB, VTS1_2.VOB ...., VTS2_0,...ect. You get the point. I dont see how PowerDVD plays this if BOTH directories are empty. Check again. mayB there are OTHER files on the disc itself. make sure PowerDVD is actually reading off the DVD as well and not files on your HARD drive

Try using ImgBurn instead of Nero. Also, what does the output folder of convertxtodvd look like?

It look like your BURN is not working. I burn my discs as DATA discs where the root of the disc contains the VIDEO_TS folder. Your hard drive should have a full VIDEO_TS folder that contains your DVD files. All you have to do is get that onto a blank DVD. If your SOFTWARE can read the files off the hard drive, then there's NO reason why it couldnt read the SAME files off your media. I suspect that your software may be reading from another spot. If you are able to burn the disc as a DATA disc then I THINK you should be fine.
Note: Even though the disc is burned as a data disc, it should be recognized by PC and standalone players. As long as the root of the disc contains the VIDEO_TS folder withthe proper files, you USUALLY are OK. Buddies, correct me if Im wrong.
I say usually because every once in a while I make a perfect rip with VIDEO_TS that plays in my PC, PS2 and portable player but not in my standalones. If anyone has any ideas why this might be, PLEASE let me know.

@StanleyD
File system used for DVD-Video is ISO9660 + UDF. I'm not sure if that's a requirement to play in standalones. Most likely, standalones (especially older ones) are just having difficulty reading burned DVDs or maybe it's a media problem.

@cunh3ll666
I've noticed that you have DVD Shrink. Open the converted files on your hard drive with Shrink and output to ISO. Then, try burning the ISO with ImgBurn.
