I'm looking for an alternative to Vob2Mpg (http://www.svcd2dvd.com/) for moving DVD videos from VOBs into another container without recompressing the video (I'm flexible about reconverting the audio). Vob2Mpg will no longer work for me, as it errors out every time I try to use it.

I'm not set on .mpg files as the output, they were just convenient to use. AVI, MP4 or even MKV files would be fine.

What are some alternatives?

MKV accepts MPEG-2 video with AC3/DTS/MP2 audio,as containers go. Might be what you´re looking for.

Cheers.

Yeah, but what program can move it from a VOB to MKV?

Use DGIndex to demux the audio and video streams. Then remux them into MPG using Imago Muxer.
