Hi there!
Maybe someone out there can throw me a clue about this.
Suddenly my Windows Media Player can't play AAC audio files... I can play them on Media Player Classic or using Nero Showtime but I really need to know what can I do to make them work on WMP... any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Rockas

Here is Orban's & Coding Techologies plugin for WMP, which encables AAC/AAC+ Playback and streaming

Thank you for the suggestion... but my problem is harder than that... I guess there's something really wrong on my system 'cause I can't make any of the AAC directshow filters to work :0(
Does anybody knows a way of fixing this without a new fresh Windows Installation?
Maybe there's somekind of conflict between codecs?
I tried CoreAAC and FDShow... nothing seems to work :(

Well... it seems to me that something is keeping FFDSHOW from making is work with AAC directshow... does anybody have a clue about what it can be?
If I try to load the aac through an AviSynth script (directshowsource) the problem remains :(

Ok... I solved the problem... I'm going to leave here how for future reference... who knows... maybe someone comes across a similar problem.
I Unregistered CoreAAC.ax... Uninstalled FFDSHOW... and registered CoreAAC.ax again... everything is working fine now.

Maybe the problem was conflicting filters doing the same stuff...
Ensure you had an up to date ffdshow version though...

Well... I'm pretty sure that my FFDSHOW version was the latest available.
I'll give it another try, this time I'll unregister CoreAAC.ax then I'll reinstall ffdshow and see if it works 'cause I'm not sure if this was a conflict between these two or if there's somekind of conflict between ffdshow and some of my (supposed :)) protection applications.

I don't have halii media splitter installed... I try to keep my codecs and directshow filters under control, it's the only way I have to make sure I know what my applications need.
I usually don't use any so called "codec packs" and I don't even use ffdshow.
Somehow... seems like ffdshow and CoreAAC were "disabling" each other :(
Please... forgive my english :)

Yes, ffdshow disable coreaac because have higher merrit. But if you disable aac decoding in ffdshow (Configuring ffdshow audio decoder), you will automaticly back to coreaac

Well... but that was my problem... i tried that, simply didn't work :(
Anyway... this must be a problem somewhere on my system... I just don't want to make a "fresh" windows installation at this time.
Thanks for the help.

First you can render some that aac file with graphedit, to see what is problem, first with ffdshow enabled, second with disabled

AAC parser filter for DirectShow (http://rarewares.org/aac.html)
That is very likely the one I have (not entirely sure though), give it a try though.
