I'm trying to put a movie (SAW) onto my iPod. I have used DVD Decrypter to copy it from the DVD on to my hard drive. It's in one file and I'm assuming its a VOP file.
Now I know I have to convert to Quicktime so I'm using MPEG Stream but it wont convert it to Quicktime. Am I doing something wrong? Is there an easier way?
Thanks guys..

Yeah. Don't use Quicktime. There are tons of other alternatives that will work better and are faster.
Xvid4PSP
Videora Ipod Converter
MeGUI (my personal favorite, there is link to the guide in my sig)
Basically just browse around for one you like and run with it.

Thanks guys. But I tried both programs and not one of them worked. The firts one seams complicated. And the second on nothing happens when you press convert file!?!

You probably need to have avisynth installed for it to work.

Well I got the M3 to work but it only did half the movie. I,ve just changed the Vidio biterate from 250 to 9000 and am now converting again.
Hopefully this will work, I'll get back to ya..

That's an absurdly high bitrate. How are you using M3?

I've had good success converting DVD's for my iPod using MeGui.
Not the simplest program in the world, but not too hard. Follow the instructions listed here (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/Guides:Ipod_Conversion_Guide) and you should be fine.

You could try Super(freeware)
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=SUPER_1
or
ConvertMovie(shareware)

If you want easy, there's 3GP Converter (http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/). Just run setup first to change the language to English and choose iPod as the default profile. After that, it's just drag and drop. Problem is, it's not as easily customizable as other programs. You'll have to edit the Transcoding.ini file to change bitrate, resolution, etc.

ok...
The best by far and easy to use 2-3 clicks iPod converter (best "FOR ME"!) for all kind of files/formats even for DVD so far is "cucusoft' suite" especialy now that he fixed a bug where a green screen was the output picture when converting an .mpeg file
__but I should say that is a 'shareware' and it's an app for lazy people_
because the best would be app that support "avisynth"
***I encode for standalones and not that much for the iPod and when I do, the file will be only for 1 use after that it will be deleted!
even though...
I've just read the guied about the 'MeGui'
awsome This is the ultimate way to go when you wanna keep the movie\clip for your iPod***

When you say best do you mean easy, high quality or fastest.
Im actually looking for a convertor so I can watch movies on a Video Ipod and on my Palm Tungsten3. I might have to convert twice since they are 2 different pieces of hardware. I would like a program that gives you sweet quality per MB. Since this is for Ipod and Palm the resolution doesnt need to be anything over 320 x 480 (Max res on Palm T3). I also dont care about time. I dont know why its such a big deal. My computer will be crunching numbers for 10 hours, not me. Im interested in getting th best quality movies without using too much space since they will be probably saved on SD cards.
Oh yeah, it would be cool if it were using freeware (preferably one that doesnt require a bachelors degree to use, although I am willing to learn a bit)

Are you doing the decrypting right? Run DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode with File Splitting set to None. Make sure you disable Stream Processing. Then, just as a test try converting the resulting VOB file to iPod format using 3GP Converter (http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/)

Run DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode with File Splitting set to None. Make sure you disable Stream Processing.
Done all that. Now when I go to use M3-Movies & Music for your mobile, I have the VOB file high lighted, then push the Convert File button and nothing happens.
I went to the 3GP Converter that ilovejedd posted and its all in a strange green language….
Should I just use a hammer on the computer?:(

It's in Japanese. Scrolling down a bit, you would have seen the download link for the program in yellow. Anyhow, I uploaded my 3GP Converter directory (with language already changed to English and transcoding settings changed to iPod profile) to megaupload (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IWKJHPHL). Try to use that.
If that still doesn't work, I have a mallet you can borrow.
