View Full Version : Ripping Dual Layer ????

I am a Newbie; Ripped vcd ok. tried to rip a disk but ripper and even powerDVD/windows media cant see it Get error (no disk in drive) ?? can anyone tell me whats happenen. Is it my player (samsung 16X DVD)rom. Would appreciate any advice. :confused:

Do you use DVD-R or DVD+RW?

It took a lot of time until I found out how to burn correctly with my Ricoh DVD+RW burner.
Try MyDVD, make a new project containing a small mpeg file and burn directly to DVD. I would say this is the easiest step to check if your player is compatible with your media.

1DREAMER, are you having a problem at the ripping stage or at after the burning stage? If it's during ripping then what program are you using to rip? Remember to rip the entire movie. If you are trying to play the VOB files from your hard drive then make sure you are using PowerDVD XP (I think it's version 4). In PowerDVD XP you can change your source to "Open DVD files on Hard Disk drive".

If it's an issue with your stand alone DVD player not reading the disk then what player do you have? Not all players will read the different DVD medias. One of my buddies has a Phillips and his won't read any of the disc I have burned but my Panasonic and Malata read them fine.

The DVD player on the PC is a Samsung 16X DVD Rom. smartripper wont reconize the disk. neither will powerDVD 3.0 or windows media player. when i load the disc in, i get a message NO DISC IN DRIVE after about 30 seconds or so. I have put other discs in and no problems. The disc can go in 2 ways (Wide screen or Reg. 4.3 so you have the option of how you want to view. :(
