Been using dvd-rb pro for over a year now and this is the first time I have come across this issue. I was attempting to make a copy my Domestic Disturbance dvd and upon completion I ran the iso and the Aspect Ratio was all wrong.

- I didn't blank anything out, and only set it to reduce the extras quality by 25%

- Currently using dvd-rb v1.20.4 & CCE SP Trial v2.70.02.04

I have also attached the logfile and a screen cap in case either will help.

Anyone else ever come across this issue or perhaps have any ideas why this happened?

** I should also mention the dvd is R1 NTSC

I think the problem is that you're viewing it from the VOB. The aspect ratio is set in the IFO.

I know this sounds strange, but there are commercial discs out there that have the video encoded with an aspect of 4:3, but are played back in 16:9. Since a DVD player ignores the stream aspect settings and honors the IFO, it will play correctly.

The reason they do it is because some packages (most notably SpruceUp) cannot handle 16:9 sources. So occasionally a video tech will simply encode/author a disc at 4:3 (but with the source being truly 16:9) and then manually change the IFO tables to correct it.

DVD-RB will not change the aspect ratio of the video stream -- because it is designed to reproduce the stream exactly as it was originally authored.

Thanks, I will redo it and mount the iso and see if that fixes the issue.

Hi-

I don't think you have to redo anything. Play the DVD and not the VOB.

I've seen it before as well. Maybe one of the best known examples is one version of the R1 Independence Day. The Vobs are 4:3 but the IFOs are set for 16:9, so it plays well.
