Ok heres the problem
Ive got the it crowd season 1 dvd that i want to backup
Ive ripped the vobs to my hdd using dvd decrypter, and then i planned to open each episode into Gordian Knot to convert them into xvid's
If i play the vobs in Cyberlink Powerdvd, or VLC Player, it appears the correct AR (16:9, with no black bars, exactly like the source dvd), but if i open the vob in DGIndex (so i can make the .d2v file for GK) it says Aspect Ratio 16:9 (which is correct) but resolution 720x576 which is obviosuly not correct since that is 4:3, although that is the res of PAL dvd.
Also when playing in DGIndex and then opening in GK, it appears to make the 16:9 video into 720x576 resolution, thus making it look lik e 4:3 and squashing it.

Also i know it isnt the way DVDDecrypter is ripping it, as i tried directly from the source DVD and it does exactly the same. And i tried different versions of DGindex

Is there anyway to make DGindex recognise the source AR so that GK will make it look right?

Any replies would be great
Thanks

The same (720x576) pixel resolution is used for displaying both 4:3 and 16:9 encoded/shaped images.... Upon playback the shape of the pixels are "distorted" to suit either a 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio ;)

Ah i see

When GK made the avs, i played it in VDub and it was perfect, i guess the preview screen of DGIndex and GK just showed it as 4:3 and not 16:9, but it turned out fine.

Cheers :)

The DGIndex Preview screen shows it as 720x576 (1.25:1=5:4, and not 4:3) unresized. In GKnot, if you have View->Resized checked above the picture, it will show it resized and "normal" looking. Otherwise it's showing you the same 720x576 picture, just scaled down.

The GKnot generated .avs resizes it.
