Hello,

I'm having some oversizing issues. It seems no matter what the source is, the output continues to be oversized. I've tried a few different movies, all ripped with Ripit4me & fixvts. I'm using DVD-RB Pro v1.20.4, and CCE 2.7.2.10. Fresh installation of windows and all of the programs as well. Thanks for your help.

Here is "The General's Daugther" Log.

I forgot to mention, The General's Daughter backup mode was Menu + Movie. I tried Fight Club using the same backup mode and it too was oversized. I then tried Fight Club with the backup mode set as "Movie Only" and it came out at 4.33gb, which is fine.

Thanks,

try adding CCEAQM=1 to you rebuilder.INI file under the option part. It will help CCE SP with the sizing... do at less 3 passes.

CCEAQM=1

PS Try turning on Menu Encoding

Are you preprocessing? Looking at your log it appears as though something has been done to the source -- as it isn't very common to see multiple VTSs that only occupy 5 sectors and consist of only one frame.

When you rip the movie with Ripit4Me did you rip it in main movie mode or Menu and movie mode?

Warbucks81

When I ripped the movies with RipIt4Me, I ripped just the "Menu & Movie", then used vobblanker to blank the warnings etc...

Try reripping the whole disc again then let DVD-RB do the rest, pick Menu-Movie mode with DVD-RB

I'm gonna change the subject real quick, then we can get back on track.

do at least 3 passesI think this should actually read, "Do at most 3 passes." Many extremely knowledgeable people could tell you that, for most encodes, there is no noticeable difference beyond 2 passes, and anything beyond 3 will certainly not show any improvement.

Okay. I'm done. Back to figuring out the oversizing thing. :)

With CCEAQM=1 for CCE SP 2.70.## and CCE SP2... 3 passes works well for sizing on very high bitrate stuff and can help avoid encoder saturation.

Jeff Mott

And, Warbucks81, I agree with Fishman0919 that you should try the disc again but without VOB Blanker. The idea is simply to find out if VOB Blanker is somehow causing the trouble.

Warbucks81

okay I tried using CCEAQM=1, still getting the oversizing. Im re-ripping(full disc) one of the other movies I have, and I wont use vobblanker. I'll report once im done.

Thanks

You need to rip the entire disc. Then use DVD-RB to do "Movie and Menu" mode. Otherwise it just gets to a point at which neither I nor anyone else can predict what might happen -- let alone "why" it happens. There are too many variables involved when doing stripping with RipIt4Me (or any other preprocessing for that matter).

Just wanted to let you guys know, that i've fixed the oversizing problem. In DVD-RB Pro, I changed the backup mode from "menu & movie only" to "Full Backup" and it seems to have fixed the oversizing.

VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) produces nice little MPEG2 compliant blanks.

That said, having a DVD rip which is already menus and movie, you can and should set it to Full Disk mode.

Movie only rips risk encoder saturation, especially for short movies.
