Hi,
I've captured a movie from a DVB, but because the audio is in mpeg-2, I want to replace it with a AC3 5.1 track from the DVD I have here.
Now, the problem is, that the captured video begins x seconds before the AC3 track from the DVD. And even then, it's difficult to know exact "when" the movie starts.
What's the best way to sync the audio with the video?

It's a trial and error process. You can make one attempt to mux the streams and use Media Player Classic to adjust the audio on-the-fly, then you'll have a number you can enter into whichever program you used before.
You might also want to refresh yourself with the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm), especially #12.

If I'm understanding correctly, to sync the whole movie, you have to stretch the audio. But the problem is, the programs that can be used for that, don't support .ac3 of ac3.wav
Of course, I can convert AC3 to plain .wav but then I'll lose the 5.1 data which isn't an option.
Is there a way to edit/sync raw AC3 files, or is there another way to accomplish the syncing?

Try AC3 Delay Corrector and/or DelayCut

You can also change the framerate of the movie to match the length of the AC3 audio using VirtualDub(Mod).

AC3 Delay Corrector did the trick, thanks both!
