This has been my first time using CCE to encode an xvid to DVD. The reason i am using CCE is because my 1 click solution that i normally use (vso's convertx2dvd) makes the audio on this one particular xvid out of synch, go figure.

Anyway I can't get the damned aspect ratio correct it just doesn't look right no matter what i do in CCE. The input AR is 672x272 2.46:1 my settings are mpeg2 for dvd doing 1 pass just to see the AR is right or not and i have tried 4:3 with resize to 720x480 and 16:9 and it still comes out odd. Odd meaning the people look ok the AR is "correct" however there is a square box AROUND the entire video it doesn't extend to the sides etc. If it did it correctly i would expect the black lines on top and bottom but there is a gap left to right also, sorry if i am a bit confusing but any advice would be good. Thanks.

you have to properly resize the video. i would recommend using fitcd to make an avisynth script for you (CCE reads avisynth scripts ). search videohelp.com for fitcd and avisynth, download and install avisynth (fitcd has no installation).

heres a guide how to use fitcd: http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1487285&highlight=fitcd#1487285

and heres a guide to convert avi to DVD.
