Hello all,

I understand that a VOB file that i extract from a DVD is a mp2 file. But what i dont understand is how to get it's extention to be mpg2, how would i do this? Another thing as i have read through the forum in search for this information i read that there is an audio and video timing loss during the conversion..this correct? How would this be fixed?

thanks

Demux the audio and video streams using your ripper (e.g., DVDDecrypter). Then remux them to a program stream using (for example) mplex.exe.

There shouldn't be any problem with AV sync.

Did a quick google and didn't come up with a download for mplex binary (only the source). Did come across this doom9 thread though http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-87705.html which mentions mplex being part of DVDAuthorGUI (http://download.videohelp.com/liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl) - check in the bin directory.

As mplex is a CLI program, you may prefer a GUI based muxer - the above thread also mentions ImagoMPEG-Muxer (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ImagoMPEG-Muxer). Haven't used it myself, but has some positive comments on the site.
