Hello !

I've been using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.57 and mplayerc.rev609.2kxp.7z and it was great for several months - this combination played all video files on my HDD.

But recently I've downloaded WMV file, which MPC refused to play giving the following reason:

... failed to find a connectable filter:

D:\clips\lions.wmv::Raw Video 1

I've tried Windows Media Player's codec download - it pointed me to a page on Microsoft site, which featured the codec, but only for Windows 98\2000. I've been using Windows 2003 and the installer refused to lanch.

I searched in Google and somewhere I read that this format may be supported by a newer ffdshow version.

I've downloaded ffdshow_rev601_20061128_clsid_icl9.exe and during installation for some reason checked the box called something like "Clear existing settings". After that I've got problems with many files which played Ok previously.

So I had to remove ffdshow & re-install K-Lite. But the problem that stayed is - now FLV files cannot be viewed in MPC.

So my questions are:

1) How to get FLV playback back ?

2) What is that "WMVA" format ? What codecs should I download to play it ?

P.S. Sorry if it's a stupid question or it's been answered already. I've tried to search in forum and didn't get the answer.

1) How to get FLV playback back ?

Install the latest ffdshow and then MPC 6.4.9.0 should play it. You can also use FLV Player (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/WEB-Design/Flash/FLV-Player.shtml)

2) What is that "WMVA" format ? What codecs should I download to play it ?

WMVA is the old Windows Media Video Advanced profile, it was not VC1 complaint, it is now replaced by the newer WMV Advanced profile available with Windows Media 11 SDK and has 4CC = "WVC1"
Windows Media Player should be able to playback this file

Thank you for your answer !
But my Windows Media Player does not play this file !
And it does play all other WMV files I have (as well as MediaPlayerClassic).

So maybe I should download & install some extra codecs to play this file ?

Can you tell me what codec distributions (maybe from Microsoft) support the playback of that "WMVA" ?

"K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.57" <- what do you need that for ?

To play any WMV files, just install the latest WMP11.

Ok, thank you guys, I've installed wmfdist11.exe (Windows Media Format 11 Runtime) and now I'm able to watch that file in MediaPlayerClassic :thanks:
