I plan to output a movie to a different size, using Fit2Disc to calculate the right width and height.
I was wondering, if anyone used CCE to encode movies for iPod (not DVD) and they are satisfied with the output quality.

Sorry, but CCE can't be used to create output for the iPod. The iPod only accepts MPEG-4 and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) video -- CCE encodes in MPEG-2 or MPEG-1.

Thanks, jdobbs, So what do I use instead? The default encoder you provided?

Yes. If you select MOBILE encoding DVD-RB will automatically use FFMPEG to encode to the proper format.

Hmm. I did that yesterday night.
The quality is ok, but the sound level is extremly low? The volume is at max and I barelly hear it.
The movie is Devil Wears Prada, original. If I do a normal DVD copy, everything is perfect.

AC3 can sometimes really have low volume , especially in DD5.1 sources. It's a way of providing a wide dynamic range. You can boost the volume by double clicking on the preset you are using. There will be a dropdown box in which you can set the amount of audio boost. I think the default is 1.2... which is a 20% audio boost. Setting it to 1.5 would result in a 50% boost. If you want to improve the quality of the video, you can also increase the bitrate, select two passe encoding, as well as adjust several other options. You can save your settings to another preset name.

You can also open the MOBILE.INI file and edit the settings for presets by hand.
