This may seem like a strange request, but I have a reason for asking. I'm a regular PC user. A good friend of mine, is a complete Mac enthusiast. I swear by my PC, he swears by the Mac. I do however, have an open mind. I've been able to produce some incredible results with x264 and MeGUI on the PC. I have been told by this friend, that the Mac is far superior to the PC with respect to encoding video. From what I've seen so far, you can get results that are just as good as the PC, but not necessarily better. I'm not looking to start a "PC Vs. Mac" argument, I just want to know specifically in the area of encoding video, what aspects are better using the Mac.

so have you found that the software on the Mac is better than the software on the PC? If so, what features do you believe are better?

If you know how to use the tools you have, you're not going to get consistently better results than AviSynth+x264 on Mac or any platform with any software. However, with x264 and a suitable set of filters, you can get the same results on Mac as on Windows. But I doubt your friend was talking about these kind of advanced tools :)
