I have a video project about 130 minutes in length and would like to fit it onto one dvd disk. However I have found that normal dvd recordable disks holds up to 120 minutes.

So, my questions is, is there another type of dvd disk that supports more then 120 minutes worth of video that's supported by the majority of dvd players ?

I could probly fit it in 120 minutes with pinnacle lessening the image quality, but that is a last resort.

Doesn't the actual size of the information matter more than the actual length of the information. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if something does not reach 4.7GB then the length shouldn't matter.

That's right. You can compress the video a bit more, but the quality of the image will be a little bit worse. IMO, 130 minutes with only one audio track and no animated menu on a single layer DVD is still acceptable, but you reach the limit. Use a good multi-passes encoder!

BTW, welcome to the forum, Pineriver!

I see what your saying, I could fit a 10 hour video on a disk which the quality would have to be way-low in order to fit inside the 4.7GB limit, or it would only allow less then 120 minute of video on a disk if it has superb image quality..

so I would have to get like dule-layer disks or something like that which only plays on select dvd players if I didnt want to compremize quality..

And, what about this multi-passes process editing, where can I find out more?

Maybe you can have a look in the DVD Rebuilder section.
