Sonic Foundry Soft Encode?

Anyone know how the quality of this software's AC3 encoding compares to that of FFmpeg/besweet's? I say this because its kinda old... (2001)

I recomend to get Sonic Audio Transcoder v3.

From recent testings, Aften, wich is freeware, has shown to be the encoder that provides with the most faithful AC3 encodes compared to the source files regarding range compression and volume.
