On this guide there is the following suggestion:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dv/guide.html
"save the DV file as either type-1 or as a type-2 AVI. Save the audio separately to a WAV file (your DV editing program should offer this option"

But the final AVI is only 1 file and no wave audio file is seem... it says my editing dv program should allow me to do this but it doesn't "STUDIO 9" so the question is how... I know I have to convert the WAV to AC3 for DVD NTSC so I need to do something about this... :scared:

No, Studio 9 does not give the option to CAPTURE audio separately.

Is Studio 9 your capture software?
Are you using Studio to edit your DV-capture?
If you want to use AC3 audio track on your video and use Studio to create the dvd files, you will have to pay Pinnacle/Avid extra for the AC3 plug-in. Then Studio would convert the audio to AC3 when it creates the dvd.

If you are using some other program to edit and author the dvd files, you could demux the audio track out of the DV-avi file by using VirtualDubMod, and use something like Belight or ffMpegGui to convert the audio to AC3.

Also, you CAN use wav audio for a dvd, but it takes up a lot more space than AC3.
