HI guys, help me out
I tried playing VCD/DVD but it says "seek failed" in mplayer. I changed to ffmpeg and win32codec family in both audio and video, but then also it displayed the same error.
Here's the output of dmesg
Buffer I/O error on device hdd, logical block 5910
hdd: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: command error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
end_request: I/O error, dev hdd, sector 23644
Using Xine also fails. In the log it says " couldn't find demux for /media/cdrom/mpegav/avseq01.dat".
I have all the plugins installed already. I have already done "yum -y install gstreamer* lib* ffmpeg* *mp3*" , have w32codecs installed and everything.
I have Fedora core 5, but I experienced this problem in Ubuntu Edgy, Fedora Core 3 and 4 too. I encounter this problem with any VCD or movie DVD I buy. They all play perfectly in windows XP, but not in Linux. Also all the cds and DVDs compiled by me or friends work fine, but again not these VCDs.
Also I cant copy from these VCDs, though I can copy from my own compiled ones with data and clips etc. With the commercial VCDs it says I/O error and is unable to copy then. Any ideas?
Thanx for any help in advance!
