I only backup the main movie and never any of the extras. I always use the latest version of Ripitforme. Am I wasting my time by ripping the whole DVD? Could I only do main movie rips as long as I am not doing an episoidic DVD? Are there reasons I need to rip the whole DVD?

Hi!

If you're using the "RipIt4me" package and are selecting the "Movie + Menu" option, "the "Ri0pIt4me" package is performing everything that's required...

I use Ripit4me but rip the whole DVD. I was just wondering if there were any problems with just ripping the main movie with some of the newer "protections" that the studios are using. I only backup the movie only without the menu. I think that I will just try doing main movie only ripping and only rip the whole DVD if I encounter any problems.

Thanks for the quick reply Setarip.

Using the "RipIt4Me" package in whichever mode you choose ("Full DVD", "Menu+Movie", "Movie Only", or "ISO") should yield a successful rip...

MO is actually the cleanest rip around as it writes totally new IFOs. The other modes preserve the way the original disk behaves and sometimes leaves some tiny cells in. The guide and FAQ explain this.

I always using Xilisoft DVD Ripping Platinum 4 for rip the main movie. It is very simple, easy and no rocket science to do it. You only need to click on the list for file that have many scene. Just set bitrate at 8000 or 9000 and maximum bitrate at 10800 also set sound at 448 kbps with sampling 48000 and you can enjoy the same high quality VOB single file as the DVD one. The best if leave aspect ratio at original size. For some DVD player that can play DivX movie you can burn this rip result as data file (VOB single file). You will surprise as most DVD said they are big enough to waste DVD9 disc but actually after I rip only to found it's just arround 3-4GB.

pain in the butt to see all these short advertising movies before your movie, ...and FBI warning and all this crap anti copy protection telling you are a criminal if you do this or that(when it is a copy anyway).
and it use quality space, when the more important is to go to your movie directly and start watching!
