I recently installed Windows Vista on my computer and noticed that when using DGIndex to demux, Areo (the fancy windows gui "enhancement" feature) closes. When DGIndex is done, Areo re-starts. It seems to have something to do with the video overlay on the preview since it doesn't happen until I actually load a file.

I had the same problem with ProjectX until I updated my JRE to the release candidate of java2 1.6. VLC also causes Areo to close, but VirtualDubMod does not suffer from this at all.

@neuron2, If I can help troubleshoot, please let me know.

Try turning off Options/Use DirectDraw Overlay. Tell me what happens. Thank you.

I thought I'd give my 2 cents to help anybody else having this issue.

Yes, I too had the same issue on my Windows 7. Unfortunately my DGIndex 1.4.3 had the option "grayed-out" and so I couldn't disable it. This is probably because it needs to be updated. From neuron2's website (http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html), you can get the latest version.

Actually, it seems that the option has been completely removed in 1.5.7, so if you're having these issues with Vista/Win7 upgrade your copy. :)

Thank you neuron2 and jackei for such great software.
