After encoding with lame in Belight with the "fast" setting (which is the --vbr -new setting in lame), the bitrate does not move fast as it does when I encode with any other frontend for lame. Instead the bitrate acts like abr and only moves like 1-3 kbps every couple of seconds. The "new" setting produces bitrates that are only multiples of 16 or so and jumps around very rapidly. What's the deal?
I even tried to change the command line to something simple like " --vbr -V 3", and it didn't give an error, it just says "transcoding complete" immediately and produces a file of no size. It seems that it will only work with -V 5, hmmm.
