Getting cheesed off not having enough knowledge to do decent HDTV .TS MPEG2/H.264 to x254/XviD AVI/MKV whatever :)

two tool solution:
1st fix errors with mpeg2repair
2nd run it through MeGui

HD resolution is, in technical terms at least, exactly the same as doing SD encoding. Just pick your favourite SD encoding method and input a larger resolution file.
