hello,

i tried megui and i have an issue related to bitrate. I'm not sure it is because of megui anyway.
My goal is to encode in 720p a source which is in 1080i, with a final file size of about 4Go, to have "maximum" quality on a dvdr. The demuxing/ d2v process is ok, the avs also.
But when i'm using the bitrate calculator, for example a movie of about 90 mins, it tells me that the correct bitrate is 7000bps, but when encoding (xvid or x264 codec) the final size of the file is significantly smaller (about half the size). I made the test with different movies and it is always the same. When opening the file with gspot it tells me the bitrate is 7000 anyway.
What can i do to have a final file with the size i want ?
As i told it is probably a megui issue, as it does the same with virtualdub.

many thanks for your answers, sorry for my basic english :)

i think you have "saturated" the movie, that mean that maximum quality for this movie is achivied with those settings.

Better to disable bframes or use max 1, apply no filter or just a little bit (depend on noisy of source), also in x264 lower the minimim quantitizer (qpmin) to 4

Or if this fail to a crf encoding with value ...argue from previus encoding ( with range from 0 (more size) to 14 (less size))
