Hello to Everyone, like the topic read's how ? (with pic & detail explanation please)

This project contains a 5.1 ready-to-load channel configuration.
http://www.badongo.net/file/1786817
Just load either 6 mono WAVs, one at a time, in its respective place (Left, Right, Center, etc) or 1 interleaved 6-ch WAV PCM file with WAV order (L-R-C-LFE-Ls-Rs, so that you won´t have to rearrange the files later).
After that, export to AC3 with the desired parameters.
Example:
http://img490.imageshack.us/img490/9572/vegas05le7.jpghttp://img324.imageshack.us/img324/3882/vegas06tu0.jpg
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/1368/vegas03kf6.jpghttp://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4472/vegas04zu7.jpg
This project will guarantee you the volume level of the output AC3 will be the same as the original WAV (except specific parameters are chosen in the encoding tabs).
Cheers.

I would like to enable ex, what settings should i use in ext. bitstream tab ?
Skelsgard

To enable EX check:
- Enable extended bitstream information
- Dolby Surround EX encoded
- HDCD encoded can be chosen, if your source is digital and not recorded thru soundcard.
This is a 6.1 project. The RC channel blends equally into Ls and Rs for matrixing and later EX decoding.

Thank's Alot for helping me out so far, my final request is a 7.1 bidule, because I belive ex supports 7.1. Also should I mix half of surround right & surround left to get rear center ?, also how about the 7.1 bidule, what should i mix for the 7th channel ?

There´s not really a 7.1 configuration. In 7.1 Ls and Rs become SL and SR, and RC is duplicated and send to RL and RR.
I can give you a 7.1 project but it wouldn´t actually get you a decoded 7.1 configuration.
The 6.1 is preferable.
Also should I mix half of surround right & surround left to get rear center ?
If you use the project I gave you, you won´t have to. Just load the RC channel into the RC track and the muxing will downmix it into Ls and Rs.
The principle of operation of EX is basically the same as DPL where you put the C into L and R in equal levels and after is C is decoded by analyzing L and R and extracting what is the same in both channels.
Cheers.

i have a dts es 6.1 discrete
is it possible to get 7 mono wavs from it???????????????:confused:

When I want to decode a 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete I use ASIO recording, either thru PowerDVD playing of the DTS file or SPDIF output to my soundcard (SB Audigy 2 ZS with DTS-ES built-in decoding). I prefer the latter, as it is hardware decoding. To record the ASIO input, either Vegas or Kristal Audio Engine.
There´s a method posted in the forum thru GraphEdit with Cyberlink´s Audio Decoder (PowerDVD 7), but I can´t get it to work as the filter won´t connect to anything, not even Dump.ax nor other Cyberlink filters (ie. Audio Effect).

Skelsgard thnx for ur quick reply!!!!!!!
i'll be needing a bit more help as i am new to multichannel encoding!!!
In my computer i don't have any hardware for decoding DTS ES, so i think i'll hav to do it the PowerDVD way.
So can u please tell me how to do ASIO recording thru PowerDVD as i have never done it before!!!!!!!!!!

The only way I see right now for ASIO recording working will be if u have a 8 channel capable soundcard with its own 8 ch capable ASIO driver. I´ve tested my soundcard´s driver and ASIO4ALL (freeware ASIO driver) and ASIO4ALL allows me to record form a 2ch only input while Creative ASIO driver allows me to record up to a 8ch input.
2ch input for ASIO will be pointless to achieve multichannel recording, therefore the need for your soundcard to have its own ASIO driver.
Do you know if this is the case with your soundcard?

i actually have onboard audio which supports upto 6ch audio(Intel D915GAV) that's why i wanted to convert DTS ES Discrete to DD5.1
but after installing ASIO4ALL driver i noticed in Adobe Audition in the Audio Hardware Setup window when i select ASIO4ALL v2 as audio driver it shows 8 mono ports for input(In Vegas it shows 4 stereo inputs ie. realtek HD audio input 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8).
and i don't think that intel provides ASIO driver separately & even if they are included in the audio driver package available for download.

Are you sure it´s 8ch input? cause i´ve run into this confusion myself.
When using ASIO4ALL in Vegas, the only input I get is 2ch, but that might be only with my particular soundcard.
Anyway, if you have a 6ch soundcard, then you don´t need to do ASIO recording to decode that DTS-ES track. You don´t even need to transcode it. DTS-ES tracks are designed to send the extra channel (RC) to SL and SR when decoded by standard non-ES decoders. So, whenever you listen to the DTS track in a 6ch system, the RC is already muxed within the surround channels.
If you still want to transcode to DD5.1, my method is to use BeHappy to transcode from DTS to WAV, then encode to AC3 with Aften.
That´s what I would recommend you to do (if you want to transcode anyway). It will save you from the hassle of waiting for realtime decoding and recording.
Cheers.

I also have, a card of sound, AUDIGY 2 ZS. Work with the Directshow (Creative Neo6) in Graphedit, later, position the audio file, in my Steinberg Nuendo 3, I separate the 6 archives mono (6,0 movie) and I codify with DTS PRO SERIES. With WaveLab 5 also it is possible to be done the 6.1. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120764

Hi to all
I have worked one udio WAV with Graphedit, DirectShow Creative Neo6. I have added the audio one, to Sony Vegas 7, and I have fit them in SurroundPan:
FL FR = 68%
Center = 100%
SL SR. = 68%
CENTER SURROUND = 68%
¿Well is fit the channels?

I don't have Vegas 7 myself but there's a guide written by a videohelp forum member for using it with the V.I Suite. It's available as a PDF to download (http://users.tpg.com.au/adslrotx/pseudo51.rar). Even if you don't use V.I, this may help with the routing settings, etc., in Vegas.

Steve.

In your case, I would strip the stereo waves into mono (FL-FR and SL-SR), just to have separate control over each mono streams, in case I want to apply further filtering.
I would load it like this:
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/7556/vegasfd3.jpg
Also, pay attention to this http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/7457/filterdc1.jpg. It means filters are active on that track. Don´t know why but Vegas applies by default 3 chained filters to every new audio track: a Noise Gate, an EQ and a Compressor, I think, which you won´t want screwing around with your sound, so you should disable them (*1). Apparently, disabling the "Smooth and thin automation data after recording or drawing" option in the Preferences --> External control & Automation tab, seems to get rid of that default behaviour. At least, after I disabled it, the filters were no longer loaded by default.
(Don't mind the Pan settings, they´re a by-product of the project being a Surround one).
Anout the center surround, Vegas 7 comes with multichannel WAV output support up to 32 streams, so you can get the 7 channels mapped. Muxing the CS with SL and SR would be a pointless action, as you could just use a 5.1 config for VI and spare yourself having to upmix from SL and SR to SL , SR and CS (as I believe the V.I. in some way might operate) just to have to mux CS back to SL and SR again.
Leave the 7th channel separate. As I said, Vegas 7 can output the 7 channels. The 5.1 Surround Pan config is only used in 5.1 output streams, such as Dolby Digital or WMA output.
If you select multichannel WAV on output, you can get the 7ch WAV.
Is just a matter of asigning a bus for each separate audio track, as shown in the picture by the letter in each track. Also, the "enable multichannel mapping" must be checked in order to enable the custom mapping. If you don't separate the stereo tracks, use "Bus #", as buses are stereo. If you do separate the stereo into mono, each bus containing a mono stream should be set to "Bus # (Mono Dowinmix)".
*1: some time ago we had a post were differences came out when encoding with Aften and Vegas to AC3. Now I´m interested in testing how much those filters might have influenced the final results on Vegas AC3.
Cheers.

Thank you very much Skelsgard and ursamtl :)
According to the connection of Steve to the guide, they adjust, channels stereo FL FR and SL SR. to 68%.
I have been experimenting and sound well.
Skelsgard
If I have not understood badly, you say to, that in the disables his menu of Sony Vegas7 Smooth and thin automation dates to after recording or drawing
http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6471/02na9.jpg
and plug-ins track: to Noise Gate, an EQ and to Compressor
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/190/01jx5.jpg
I have worked It, like you me to commented and the truth, that sounds very very well :) But, when working with the Directshow of creative Neo6, it creates a WAV to me of 6 channels (6,0 movie) not LFE. As it is seen in the image, channel LFE, me I have invented it.

Thank you very much by its good explanation

Upmixers, at least the "comercial" technologies, don´t do LFE creation when upmixing (Neo:6, DPLI/II).
I usually create one with FFT filters and some EQing.
But you still need the track to be assigned to the LFE.
About your 7th track:as we´re talking of exporting multichannel outside the Surround config that Vegas has, each track is exported to one assigned channel, so it doesn't have much influence what Surround panning options u choose for that particular track (unless is a stereo clip in the given track). But if you want to do 6 channel output (with matrixed 7th channel, for possbile future EX/ES decoding) thru the Surround config, I would recommend you to disable FL, FC, and FR for the 7th track, so you can be sure the audio is send only to SL and SR.
Cheers.

Thanks for the detailed info here guys. I used Sony vegas easily with your instructions. Took my DTS audio out of my m2ts file made 6 mono tracks and easily rendered it to 5.1 ac3 using Vegas. My question is now that I have my rendered 5.1 ac3 how do I now remux it back into my m2ts file?

i have a dts es 6.1 discrete
is it possible to get 7 mono wavs from it???????????????:confused:
You can now decode dts (hd)es 6.1 discrete to 7 mono waves with latest eac3to , very easy:)
Eac3to use SonicCinemasterAudioDecoder4.3 which decodes dts perfectly!
I made a few DD EX 5.1 (6.1 Matrix) reencodes from dts hd 6.1 with the 6.1 Record Project (7 mono waves )from above...works perfekt
@Jonatahn H
Hä ,what exactly is your Problem ?
Just load the 5.1 record Project from, above and drag&drop your mono waves into the correct Channles Tracks.
Then goto "Render As" and select Dolby Digital, ofcourse youve to by/activate the AC3 Encoder Plugin which is very expensive

I used your project to convert wave to ac3, but I don't know why, in the final ac3, only music and effects are audible, all dialogues are muted,
when decode this ac3 to wave in headache, I get only two channels Left and Right and rest all channels appear blank
While the original 5.1 waves are all fine
and play well in Vegas.
Pleasre guide .....
