Just saw that EoH created a full guide about how to create a hybrid DVDA with stereo and surround.
It's on his forum : http://www.dtsac3.com
As far as I know, and I searched a lot for something like this, it's the first full guide that can even be understood by newbies........

I have some helpful information. Is this the guide that tells the reader he or she needs software that includes:

Discwelder Chrome...........2995 USD
DVD Menu Studio...............69 USD
Surcode DVD DTS encoder......495 USD
Surcode MLP encoder.........2495 USD
DVDMaestro..................no longer available*
*Software publisher, Spruce Technologies, was bought by Apple in 2001.
Plus various other software packages.

If so, since the software that is legally available will cost such newbies over $6000 US, I'd like to pass on a money-saving tip. If they buy Discwelder Chrome and Surcode MLP encoder as a bundle, it will only cost $4990, thus saving them $500!

So the newbie will only need $5500 plus an existing copy of Spruce Technologies DVDMaestro, right? I know from experience that it's important to help newcomers to the aart, so that they'll know what kinds of problems they'll encounter.

Regards,
Steve. What's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Yep, that software is quite expensive.....

I wonder however why you brought this in.....
I read a lot on Doom9 but never saw anyone mentioning prices of software..........

I understand from past messages here, on other forums and on DTSAC3.com that EoH and you don't seem to get along quite well. Does that have anything to do with this response ?

Weren't you publishing conversion methods before the drop in price of Surcode DTS CD and when there was no free AC3 encoder yet ? Why didn't you mention the prices then ?

From everything I read I get the impression that whatever EoH brings out, you will just HAVE to critize it....... And even bring your objections to other well known forums.....

You should be glad he made the ONLY available guide for making DVDA's, that's understanable for everyone !!

FWIW I find this vendetta of you quite pathetic !

As a newbie on several surround issues, I'm quite happy with someone like EoH, who is always willing to help and patient to answer all my questions. I learned a lot, because of his help. And I don't need to remind you it was him who started with conversion methods, even here on this forum !!

just my 2 cents on the subject.

PS 6000-4990 is 500 according to you ?

Perhaps you should re-read my message, oelewapper! Minnetonka offers a bundle combining Discwelder Chrome (individual price 2995) with Surcode MLP encoder (individual price $2495) for $4990. If you add 2995 + 2495 = 5490. 5490-4990 = a savings of $500.

I have no vendetta against anyone. I was trying to help newbies avoid spending unnecessary cash. As for getting along with people, I have no problems with anyone on here. The individual in question was banned from this forum because he broke the rules too many times.

What I understood was that he didn't brake any rules, but your and the moderators ego was so big, you just had to get rid of him.....

You say no personal vendetta ?
Well, I jump in for the defence of EoH. I have seen your posts on Usenet too, my friend. I have seen your discussion about intellectual property in another audio-forum too, my friend.
I have seen you criticize as only one against hundreds who like it, some of his work too, my friend. (Kraftwerk !)
I didn't see , but heard from several members here, how you worked him out here too, my friend.

Honesty and replying to the content of my reply would suit you more than this childish behavior !

And yes, you were right with the calculation..... I made a mistake.

Can I conclude from your unnecessary mentioning of the prices of the software, that you are now the guardian for all those people who might spend too much on official software ?
Then there is a really nice task for you on this forum with it's 100,000's of messages........ and at least 10,000's about overpriced software, that no one buys, but everyone seems to have ! ;)

But I think I better stop now, before you know it I also have a moderator banging on my door, because I dare to say something in the face of the almighty Steve......

Hi!Yep, that software is quite expensive.....
I wonder however why you brought this in...

I, for one, certainly appreciate being told two things regarding suggested software - whether it's freeware, shareware, or simply commercial software and, if it's commercial software, the price.

Certainly, someone providing this information is, as far as I can see, being only helpful and not offensive...
