I have tested the windows port for Mplayer
using the MPUI and Kliper Windows GUI
Playing AVI or MOV videos the sound is good
but when I try to play a DVD disc the sound
is way way to low.
Any suggestions for the problem ?

DVDs seem to have very "low" sound, because the dynamic range is so wide for AC3 sound.
This means while most of the movie is pretty low volume, some "action" scenes are very loud.
For MP3 and stuff volume usually keeps more or less at same level over the whole file.
Run MPUI, click 'Tools' -> 'Options' and then add this to 'Additional MPlayer parameters':
-af volnorm=2 or -af volnorm=1
- or -
Enable 'software volume control', which allows you to boost the volume to more than 100%

Thanks for the advice :)
I tried this
-af volnorm=1
and the sound was louder
Btw.
Thanks for the "Mplayer for Windows" set.
I have now put the set on my USB flashdrive.
(I compressed the DLL and EXE files first with UPX, to get a smaller set)

I can't UPX the MPlayer.exe files in my installer, because the single files would be smaller, but all files packed together in the installer would be MUCH bigger. I tried that once and ended up with an installer that is 3x bigger than without UPX. Seems like NSIS can compress the "normal" files pretty good but fails on the UPXed ones...

Yes, I know :)
compressing a compressed file almost always result in a larger file.
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
