Hi!
I just did some reading on software players for hd-dvd, and at the moment, there seems to be only two options.
A japanese version of WinDVD8 (which cuts resolution 9xx) and PowerDVD 6.5, which only comes as an oem version, so good luck findig it :)
Now, are there any opensource/freeware option available yet? Maybee some FFDshow tricks?
thx.

You sure the "western" WinDVD 8 doesn't play HD content?! The Intervideo site says it does... at least the Platinum version... eventually with a special plug-in... not available yet (:D)

According to several forummessages the only one is the japanese, though the website says that it does. It just does not.
And as I said, for some reasons, the japanese version only plays at a resolution around 900x500

Licence restrictions make it unlikely we'll see freeware stuff - they're ultra paranoid about this, because one weak link and there will be a flood of pirated HD-DVDs available.
By the way, PowerDVD 6.5 has "appeared" in the usual places already, and works with any drive you like.
