Hi folks,

Bizarre one for you, if anyone cares to comment!

I've just built a new HTPC (Antec Fusion case, 4200+ X2 CPU, gig of ram and an Asrock AliveNF4G-DVI mobo.) Nice! I'm very happy.

The problem is, all of the h264 (.ts extension, if it helps?) files I have are frame-y in Windows MCE using the MCE frontend. What's wierder though, is that they're perfect in Windows Media Player if I minimise the MCE frontend...

Any thoughts? I'm using CoreAVC. Any help appreciated!

Cheers,
PnaG.

From what I understand, the MCE frontend doesn't properly support 3rd party codecs - but if you are using WMP that shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry I can't be more specific :|

Good luck!

Hmmm, I'm not so sure - I've watched rmvb and quicktime files through the front end by installing the alternative codecs, as well as Divx and Xvid...

Tis an interesting one though! I'm nearly sure that before I installed Divx and Xvid codecs, it played perfectly through the front end, but I only tried it once before I did the extra installs.

Wonder if the DivX installer (cause it said something about H264) nobbled the playback as it took over and is not as good in the frontend?

Thanks for the input!

I read somewhere that the DivX Pack can break both DivX and Xvid playback in MCE. That was on Vista. Perhaps a similar issue exists on XP?
