Hi I'm using x264 encoder that I downloaded way back form x264.nl
It's version 518 and it came as an installer so I can use it with VDM just as with xvid.
However can't seem to find an installer for the new(er) builds - such as build 600 - only CLI.
Is there such an installer?

x264 VFW is deprecated and no longer developed.

You can however download x264vfwunited, which is a 3rd party development : http://gabextreme.googlepages.com/x264vfwunited
The original x264 authors won't support problems you might report using x264vfwunited, you should report them to the x264vfwunited crew only.
This is so because the x264 authors have decided to drop the VFW part of x264 completely.

I'll give it a try
Thanks :)

What is the last VfW version? rev. 551?
EDIT: I've been searching in http://x264.nl, in the older versions section, and I think it's rev. 573. Is that right?

The last official revision that had vfw support was rev. 580. (the web svn interface says rev 581="no more vfw").
But x264vfwunited have updated their release to rev 600 (and you would have known if you had actually visited their website).

The last official revision that had vfw support was rev. 580. (the web svn interface says rev 581="no more vfw").Why can't I found rev. 580 in http://x264.nl ? It skips from 579 to 581...
But x264vfwunited have updated their release to rev 600 (and you would have known if you had actually visited their website). Why should I want to know? So why should have I visited their website? I was asking about official releases.

... x264vfwunited is not x264.nl ...
x264 has no official win32 releases.
the builds you find on x264.nl are builds by bobor.

the builds you find on x264.nl are builds by bobor.OK, so the last vfw version I can find at x264.nl is rev. 573, isn't it?

Why dont you use the x264vfwunited? It's the same as old vfw builds that were on x264.nl plus it is newer.

Well, I actually use CLI version with MeGUI.
But I was wondering which version would I choose if in a future I'd want to use VfW again. So you recommend x264vfwunited in this situation?
Thanks.

Why should I want to know?If you don't want to know, don't ask .... LOL. In fact ... What is the last VfW version? rev. 551?I didn't read official in that statement, so I had to guess what you wanted to know (and I obviously guessed wrong ;)).
Batk to the original problem. In fact, if you're really interested in the "original" rev. 580 and that revision specifically, you're free to browse the svn, checkout the code, and compile it yourself (there are enough scripts and VS.NET solution files provided with it for that purpose). The only x264 builds I know of are Sharktooth's and b0bor's (maybe celticdruid did some at one time, I can't remember). If you can't find a rev 580 build, you'll have to re-compile it by your own, that's all there is to it :) (or ask someone *nicely* to do it for you ^^)

I didn't read official in that statement, so I had to guess what you wanted to knowYou didn't have to guess anything because since the beginning we were talking about builds downloaded from x264.nl, but now we have cleared the issue :):
