guide anybody?

I guess I could write one but I could only test VOBs on my HD with software DVD players and that isn't quite proof enough that things work as advertised. Also.. despite donations I simply don't have enough money to get a DVD burner at this moment.
So.. I'm wondering if anybody who actually has the hardware to test and has got it working could write a nicely illustrated guide that I could put up on my page.

a guide on how to do dvd to dvd-r.
Basically there are a few option: one is just strip out extras and extra langauges to make a movie fit onto a DVD-R. A more extensive version would include how to re-encode the audio if the files are still too large after stripping.

Hi doom9 !
I am willing to write a howto as soon as ifoedit can remux with cce generated files, before it can do this it doesnt make sense for me to use it.
until then i extract the strems, reencode and reauthor :-)

ender, you're referring to the advanced part of the guide here. Many times simply stripping extras and language tracks already do the trick.. so... any takers?
just to make sure again, here's what I'm looking for:
1) DVD -> DVD-R by only stripping out unused stuff
2) DVD -> DVD-R by stripping out unused stuff and re-encode the video

Ahh okay, so i guess many people can help with part 1, so i volunteer for part 2 as soon as cce is usable ( reempeg is not only slow, that would be acceptable, it is also bas Quality :-( )
bye,

Doom9, I had originally wanted to do just what you're asking about: (reference http://www.geocities.com/covert1.geo/dvd-r/dvd_r.htm ) but, as many might know, (sorry Remix_88, especially) I kinda dropped off the face of the earth, because school was really putting me thru the ringer. Well, thank goodness it's all over, and not only did I finish everything, and pass, the day after my last final, I got a lucrative job offer!
Anyhow, I've owned a dvd-r drive for a while, I've saved enough so that I can buy DVD-R blanks by lots of 10 whenever.. All I really need to do is supplement my PC with a larger HD. (or, if I'm more fortunate, a dual AMD rig :D )
Other than that, after the holidays, I'm sure I could compile a lot of the info here, with not just pictures, but explanation (just like my original page) and turn out something nice.
Even though my page is kinda antiquated, thanks to developments within this forum, I still get strangers emailing me, saying, "thanks". But I'm no different from them, no matter how descriptive the text is, I just can't bear to read something and try to recreate it on screen. Gotta have supplemental pics ;)

don't get all the pics showing on that page you mentioned. Furthermore.. could you make sure it's really up-to-date with the latest developments in this forum? I know it's time consuming but that's what guide writing is in the early stages of a new procedure. just as an example I was updating the nandub guide several times a day for quite a while as we learned more and more about the tool.

ender: well.. ifoedit 0.8 supports cce so do we have a deal about that guide?

Hi doom9 :-)
I just heard that ( christmas does not leave too much time for reencoding :-)
I will play with the new ifoedit these days and work on the stuff ...
( but i already heard it does NOT work with cce reencoded files -> sync trouble, but lets see )
