hi everyone!
i have very simple program that takes dvd disk recorded with camcoder and saves chapters from it to separate files. i spent several days reading mpucoder-dvd and finally i could get that i need to copy "cell"s from dvd disk. i wrote program that does it but when im trying to open files created by my program (mpeg2) video players show incorrect clip length and sometimes hang when i press stop. i tried several players from "media player classic" till "winamp".
can someone help me? whath i do wrong?

Hi!
I'm not sure I understand your post completely but, if all you are trying to do is copy individual chapters from a DVD, you don't have to write a program. This can readily be accomplished by using DVD Decrypter, in "IFO" mode...

:thanks: for advise. but i think i need more then decrypter can do - whath i need is mpeg2 file, if should be possible to open it in any player (say winamp). but files extracted with decrypter( and my program as well =) ) make it hang. i think problem is that extracted data is not valid mpeg stream. can somebody give references to where i can find information about how to make valid mpeg stream?
ps : if someone have references to free dvd-video format spec i'll be glad to =)

The video ripped from DVD Decrypter is of course MPEG2 compliant since it is a VOB.

it would be greate, but its not exactly mpeg2 stream. if chapter have more then one cell then wrong movie duration will be shown for the clip. i guess its more about codecs, but i still think that if resulted .vob file was mpeg2 stream then there were no problems with its playback. you can try to build playback graph with graphedit and use different demuxers and mpeg decoders and ull see the dirrefence (e.g. try to use standard "mpeg-2 demultiplexer" from microsoft and "mpeg demultiplexer" from elecard)
