I'm adding subtitles on DVD using SubtitleCreator and muxman.
Recently on some PAL DVD I found some undesired "dots" at the bottom of some subpictures (not all), after adding back the subtitle.

What I did:
- extracted the original sup subtitle
- modified the colors of sup in SubtitleCreator
- inserting back using muxman
- adjusting a little the subpictures position with DVDSubEdit
Also in the custom created DVD subtitles with SubtitleCreator from .srt file I have the same problem.

Hi!- adjusting a little the subpictures position with DVDSubEditI believe this is the only step that was necessary - moving from an odd-number vertical line to an even-number vertical line...

Did you try to open the subtitles with SubtitleCreator (Tools->Manipulate Sup)? Do you see the defect with SubtitleCreator?

You are correct. I had a few that by adjusting the height, solved the issue.

When using DVDSubEdit, my setting for the distance from the bottom was the same: 46. And this value was applied to ALL.
The undesired "dots" are not displayed at all subtitles, but only at few of them.
I think some parts from the upper line of the subtitles from some letters like: N l i are displayed at the bottom of the second line. In some subtitles with this characters I have the problems, but in others don't.
@manusse,
After adjusting the color of the original subtitles with SubtitleCreator and muxing the subtitles with Muxman the "dots" are there in all subtitles with one of this letters: p q y g. With the custom created subtitles there is no problem after using Muxman. Maybe the original subtitles have some bad font and creating problems for SubtitleCreator or Muxman. In SubtitleCreator I didn't touched the subtitles position.
Using the manusse idea (in SubtitlesCreator all subtitles are displayed correct) I think I found the problem:
The subtitles with problems are not at the same distance from the bottom like the others. Even I applied the same distance in DVDSubEdit for all subtitles, for some of them is not correct. Is a PAL DVD movie, and before I worked with most NTSC sources. Can be a bug in DVDSubEdit for PAL?
Testings were made in PowerDVD and standalone player.
Thanks for all for the replies, but now I have another question: how to fix the DVDSubEdit problem? And I hope jeanl if reading this, will fix this bug.

Hi Mtz,
I don't really understand the problem because I have difficulties understanding the message just before your last message. In your first post, you were writing:
Also in the custom created DVD subtitles with SubtitleCreator from .srt file I have the same problem.
An now, you are writing:
With the custom created subtitles there is no problem after using Muxman
So here are my questions:
-Do you also have the problem with a SUP made from a SRT using SubtitleCreator?
-Do you see the problem when you open the SUP file with SubtitleCreator?
-Did you try to add the same SUP without making modifications at all? (Demus, then remux)
-With which software do you see the defect: DVDSubedit, Software DVD player, Hardware DVD player... ?
Cheers

In the time between my 2 posts I made another tests and I didn't reproduce the bug again. When I'll see it again I will inform you and keep the files, because the previouses are now modified by DVDSubEdit and no backup made.
- 1. Answered.
- 2. No.
- 3. Yes. No problems with "dots" in the original subtitle remuxed.
- 4. Power DVD and Standalone (Hardware) Player.

I read on another board that you have to set Anti-alias to "Transparent" in order to prevent the underscore problem. No idea if that's true, just passing it along.
