Pardon if this've been posted before, but I couldn't find any similar threads...

I'd like to make sample of a video that I have. This video lasts for almost 1hr or so, and there is this part that I'd like to have in a seperate videoclip... Like a sample. The part I want lasts about 5-10mins. My problem is that I don't know how to make such sample. I do not know what I should do and what I need...

The video I have is on my PC, yes.

The files are in two versions. One is in .wmv and one in .avi

I want my sample to be in either .avi or .wmv (whatever gives best possible result)

Is there some sort of FAQ or something on how to do this?

ANOTHER ISSUE (sort of off-topic): How do I "record" a tune from a game? There are a couple of gametunes I'd like to record, but I am unsure on what I must do and what I need...

Anyone who can help me with these probs..?

Hi!

What you are describing is not "Capturing", it's "Editing" ;>}

Cutting with VirtualDub (or any of its variants)

1)Load your original (DivX-compressed or otherwise) .AVI into VirtualDub
2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"
3) Move slider to the starting point of the scene you wish to delete
4) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
5) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection Start"
6) Move slider to the ending point of the scene you wish to delete
7) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
8) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection End'
9) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Delete frames"
10) Save with a new filename

Thankies. Will try that out. Fast reply, I must say. Nice.

Also, do you know the answer to my other question..? Or is that answered already? Like, I want both seperate. One video and one audio recording... I use VirtualDub for both, huh?
