First time I've ran into this problem...

Using AnyDVD + DVDD to decrypt the whole movie. Original rip has sound when playing the main movie.

If I run the movie through vobblanker and remove warnings etc.. It messes up the audio in the main movie. Menu has sound, but the main movie is mute until I change it in the audio setup to AC3. I didn't even strip the DTS 5.1 in vobblanker so I don't understand why this is even happening.

I also tried changing Audio 0 and Audio 1 to both 0 (which is the AC3 stream) in PGCedit but there's still no audio in the main movie.

Playing with PowerDVD, the movie chooses English 2, instead of English 1.

Any ideas how to force the movie to use Audio 0 (AC3) and not DTS 5.1? Thanks.

Spanish commercial DVD has three languages in five tracks:

Audio 1 (0xC0): French MPEG-1 stereo
Audio 2 (0x81): French Dolby Digital 5.1 (ac3)
Audio 3 (0xC2): English MPEG-1 stereo
Audio 4 (0x83): English Dolby Digital 5.1 (ac3)
Audio 5 (0xC4): Spanish MPEG-1 stereo

no DTS at all...

Note there are (many) settops that do not support MPEG-1..., in fact, IIRC MPEG-1 is not mandatory in the standard

In this DVD (at least the Spanish copy) there are practically no VM commands. In fact the selection of the audio track is done by the player, because there is no SETSTN command .
Obviously the player selects the configured preferred language and the dolby (ac3) track.

...there is no SETSTN command .

I mean no default SETSTN. So, if you play the movie directly, the player will select the track.
But, for sure, in the audio language menu, you'll find the SETSTN commands in the buttons.

As far as I know,
Standard De Facto for DVD sound is AC3, if you want to rip DTS Sound you have to put the AC3 as main sound and DTS as optional. But the original source from almost every movie is in Lossly PCM Sound. And it is not efficient if put into DVD track so they use AC3 and DTS for optional. Not every DVD Ripper or copy program support to add / copy DTS. Statement that DVD have to put AC3 as one of main sound I got from Wikipedia, so don't complain to me, it just what I read :p

@DewAsmara

You might find this (http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6) a more technical and detailed explanation than Wiki :)

Just to clarify I had to manually change some GPRM values for it to default to AC3.

Just curious..., does your copy really have a DTS track?
Could you post the languages+codes of your DVD?

 I don't know why the spanish people cannot have a 5.1 track in this DVD... We have six ears like the rest of the humans...:p
